Advances in Cancer Care

Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento has provided comprehensive and compassionate care to cancer patients since 1983. The Sutter Cancer Center program continues to grow with new physicians, services and treatments as renovations are under way to existing buildings and the Sutter Cancer Center facility prepares to be renamed the Buhler Specialty Pavilion.

In keeping with its reputation for offering the most effective and least invasive cancer treatments, the Sutter Cancer Center is the first in the region to offer
breast cancer patients an innovative alternative to traditional radiation. The INTRABEAM® radiotherapy system allows early-stage breast cancer patients to receive a single precise dose of radiation during breast conserving surgery, eliminating the need for weeks of radiation.

“This new treatment, combined with our dedicated Women’s Imaging Center and recent accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers truly sets our breast cancer program apart as one of the nation’s most advanced and patient friendly,” said Joyce Eaker, M.D., breast cancer surgeon.
